How this
works.
What is Riitti?
An object that holds what happens around it. You tap it with your phone and write a line. What you write stays with the object.
Do I need an app?
No. Tapping opens a web page.
How do I tap it?
Hold the top of your phone against the chip for a second. On iPhone, XS and newer work without any setup. On Android, NFC needs to be switched on in settings.

Can anyone else see what I write?
Two answers. Other users can't: nobody else has your object's link, and no other object shows your entries — unless it's an object in a shared room, which is shared on purpose, where everyone who taps it reads everything on it. But everything is stored on a server we run, and we can technically read what's there. Please write with that in mind.
Where is it stored?
On a server in the EU, run by Nuottola Oy. Not on your phone. It isn't published, sold, or used to train anything — but it is an ordinary database, and the people running it can open it.
What if I lose the card?
The link on it is the only way in. Email riitti@nuottola.fi and we'll sort it out — for a test this small it's a manual fix, not a reset flow.
Can I get my entries out?
Not during the test. Ask by email and we'll send them to you.
Can I record my voice instead of writing?
Not yet. Writing is being tested first, and whether voice is wanted is one of the questions.
How do I delete everything?
Email riitti@nuottola.fi and it's gone — for a test this small it's a manual fix, not a button.
Who made this?
Nuottola Oy, in Finland. Riitti is a project about memory, objects, and what remembering might look like when it's supported by today's tech rather than replaced by it.

What Riitti is
A physical object with an NFC chip in it. Tapping the chip with a phone opens a web page belonging to that object, where you can write short entries. Those entries are stored on our servers and shown back to you — or, for an object in a shared space, to everyone who taps it.
What this is not
It is not a finished product, a backup service, or a place to keep anything important. It is a test, running for a limited time, and it may change or stop without notice.
No account
There is no sign-up, no password, and no email required. Access is controlled by the link held in the object's chip and printed on its card. Anyone holding that link can read and write to that object. Treat the link the way you'd treat a house key.
What you may write
Anything you like, with two limits. Don't write anything illegal, and — in a shared space — don't write anything about another person that identifies them or that they wouldn't write about themselves. We can remove any entry from a shared object.
Who owns what you write
You do. We store it so we can show it back to you, and we don't claim any rights over it. We will not publish it, sell it, feed it to a machine-learning model, or quote it.
What we may quote
What you tell us about using Riitti — a user interview or feedback, feedback form entries — may be quoted anonymously when writing publicly about the project. What you write into the object never will be.
Availability and loss
The service may be unavailable, and data may be lost. We back things up on a best-effort basis and promise nothing. This is a prototype.
Ending it
You can stop at any time, keep or return the object as you like, and ask for everything about you to be deleted. We can end the test at any time; if we do, we'll tell you before deleting anything.
Liability
Riitti is provided as-is, free of charge, for a test. To the extent Finnish law allows, Nuottola Oy is not liable for any loss arising from its use — including loss of anything you wrote. Nothing here limits rights you have that cannot be limited.
Law
Finnish law. Disputes go to the courts of Finland.
Changes
If these terms change materially during the test, we'll ask you to accept the new version before you write again.

What we do not collect
No name, no account, no phone contacts, no photos, no microphone access, no advertising identifiers, no cross-site tracking. The text of your entries is never sent to analytics — only how many characters it was and how long it took to write.
Legal basis
Your consent, given before you first wrote anything. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing riitti@nuottola.fi, and we'll delete everything held about you. Withdrawing doesn't undo what was lawful before, but it does mean deletion going forward.
Who else sees it
Two processors, both in the EU: Supabase (database hosting) and PostHog (product analytics). No one else. Nothing is sold or shared with advertisers.
Shared objects
An object in a shared space shows every entry to everyone who taps it. Entries are unsigned, but they are not private. Please don't write anything that identifies someone else.
How long we keep it
For the duration of the test and up to 60 days afterwards, so results can be reviewed. After that, entries are deleted unless you've asked us to keep yours. Analytics events are kept in aggregate for up to 12 months. A waitlist address is kept until you ask us to remove it, or until the collection it was for has been and gone.
Your rights
Under GDPR you can ask for a copy of everything we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we're using it, or complain to the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi). Email riitti@nuottola.fi and you'll hear back within a few days — there are six objects in this test, not six thousand.

PIN
An optional lock for a shared household device. It stops someone glancing at the screen — it isn't security, and anyone holding your card can still open the object.

Not in the test phase. If you want your week, email us and we'll send it.
Forget memories
Deletes every entry on this object and keeps nothing. The object and its settings stay. This cannot be undone.
